Jesus was about to give his life for the ransom of the world. He proclaims in this verse the paradoxical power of death and resurrection. In nature we see this in action all the time. I seed dies and is buried in the ground to bring forth new life. Each seed has the exponetial potential of producing fruit. The only requirement is death. If you hold a seed in your hand, it will never bear fruit in the ground. It is the same with our lives. If we maintain control of our lives, we will never see what King Jesus can do in and through us. Let's follow His example and lay it all down for the Father's glory and the good of those around us!
"I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness." Jesus is the light. He is the only light. And He gives us a choice. This is the most important choice you will ever make in your entire life: will you follow Him? Will you lay down your life to have real life that is only found by those who let go? Will you give God all control of your life? Will you let Him work in you and through you for His purpose and His plan? He's calling your name. He wants you. He loves you. He made you. He knows you. He can see past the outside, past every fake smile you give. He can see into your heart. He can see that you aren't ok, aren't fine. He can see that you don't have it all together. He knows every pain that fills your heart every day. He knows all the sorrow that haunts your soul. He sees every evil thought, every good deed done with a wrong heart. He knows your feelings, your motives, your convictions, He knows everything. And He offers you a second chance. He offers you life! Even though He sees into your heart past the surface, He still chases after you as one of His own! You belong to Him, and He won't let you go! He wants you to know this life that is only found in Him! He knows that you're walking in darkness until you choose Him. He wants you to choose Him. He is greater than anything else, anyone else you could ever follow! He is amazing! He is life!
