August 9, 2018 John chapter 16

A follower of Christ is motivated by different things than those who don't know him.  The joy the world gives is fleeting. Our joy in Christ is eternal. When we know the resurrected King even the cross can't steal our joy.  What looks like a symbol of defeat turns out to be our greatest joy.  This is the gift of following the one who defeated death by death.  Are you struggling to see joy in the midst of your current circumstances?  His joy is coming.  Keep your eyes fixed on your resurrected King.

    "I have told you these things so that in me, you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." This is one of my favorite verses in the Bible! It fills me with joy and peace! Some people believe that when they choose Jesus, their life will become easier. That they won't have to go through pain and brokenness. But life doesn't get easier. It actually gets harder. This world has been broken from the beginning. And in a broken world, there are broken people with broken lives and broken hearts. There is pain and suffering, there are trials and hardships. There is hurt and loneliness. But God has had a plan through it all! He has a plan for everyone and every life! He knows what He's doing! No one can question Him, for His ways are higher than ours, His thoughts higher than ours! AND GUESS WHAT! HE DEFEATED DEATH! WE DON'T HAVE TO FEAR DEATH OR PAIN OR BROKENNESS BECAUSE IT DOESN'T END THAT WAY! OUR MIGHTY GOD IS VICTORIOUS! HE HAS WON THE BATTLE! HE HAS OVERCOME THE WORLD, OVERCOME THE BROKENESS, THE PAIN, THE DEATH, AND THE ENEMY HIMSELF! PRAISE THE LORD!
