July 7, 2018 Luke CHAPTER 7

Our love for Jesus is directly related to our understadning of our need for Jesus. Simon the Pharisee was caught in the prison of self-righteousness. As a result, he had little respect for Jesus. The woman in this story was overwhelmed and broken by grace.  Her worship and love flowed from a deep realization of her absolute dependence on Jesus.  Does you love for Jesus reveal a humble awareness of your need for him?

    Death is part of this world. It is because we let it in. But when Jesus sees death, He revived it! He can raise the dead to life! In verses 11-17, a widow's only son dies. But when Jesus saw her, His heart went out to her. His heart was overflowing with compassion for her! He tells her not to cry. And then, He raises her son back to life! He knows how hard separation is! He experienced it too! When He was on the cross, the Father had to turn His back on His Son, because of the weight of our sin! Jesus knows what it's like to be alone! And His heart reaches out to us and He raises our dead hearts back to life!
