July 4, 2018 LUKE CHAPTER 2

The very fact that Jesus grew should amaze us.  Here is God in the flesh willing to undergo the same development as the rest of us.  What incredible humility!  The Lord of the Universe wore diapers, learned to walk, talk, read, and write.  He went through all the stages of human growth to identify with His creation and to demonstrate what God intended for humanity. We are all called to be growing towards who God has made us to be.  All of life is relationships.  Every day is an opportunity to draw closer in intimacy with God and to allow Him to overflow in our relationships with everyone around us.  Are you growing?

  1. Verse 20 says, "The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told." The shepherds had seen the glory of God in Jesus! And they didn't wait around to tell the Good News! They told others of the light that had been shown to them! This is what we are called to do too! God has shown us His love, His grace, His mercy, His forgiveness, His salvation, and His light! He has shown us the Message! And He wants to share it with the whole world, through us! He doesn't need us, yet He chooses to let us be a part of His plan! He chooses to reveal His glory to the world through us! It's a beautiful partnership between us and God, and Jesus made the way for that partnership, relationship! We have the Light inside of us! We who have the Light can help each other grow in the Light, and then the Light inside of our hearts strengthens! But there's no point in strengthening the Light in our hearts if we aren't willing to take the Light to the darkness! This is what we are called to do! To go to the dark places, to reach out to the hurting, to care for the broken, to help those in need. When you let God lead, His will can be accomplished through you! And His plan is like no other!
