Peter would learn humility and compassion through his failure. Are we learning from our mistakes? Are we trusting Jesus that failure is never final?
"This is my body given for you." Jesus knew. He knew what was coming. He knew what He had to do. He knew that it was the only way. He knew. And when He prayed, He asked God if there was any other way. But He knew, there wasn't. Jesus was sweating drops of blood! He was overwhelmed with sorrow! He was human! Just like us! He had to go through the same physical and emotional pain that we do! So He understands when we're hurting! He does! Then the betrayer comes. That would hurt so much, to have a friend who doesn't value you enough to say no to the offer of money, and turns their back against you. That's hard. But what I think is really interesting is that Judas brought a whole crowd! And they all came with swords and clubs! Why would they need to do that if they're just after one man? I think they were afraid. In the presence of God Himself, they probably realized that they were trying to trap the Son of God! How as fully human, but He was also fully God! They had all seen His power, and they feared it. But He went willingly! I'm sure that came as a surprise to everyone! Jesus knew what He had to do, and He knew that it had to be. There was no other way. So praise Jesus that He was willing, for us!!
