July 14, 2018 Luke Chapter 14

Christ followers are called to be distinct.  As salt in a decaying world, we are called to preserve and flavor with truth and grace.  If we blend into the culture around us we lose any benefit to the people God has called us to love and serve.  How weird are you?  Does your love for God and others make you stand out?  Are you pointing to the hope found only in Jesus?

    The kingdom of God is completely backwards to the world. The humble are exalted and the proud are humbled. The Pharisees probably hated this idea, because they were proud people. But so are we! I know I struggle with pride. But Jesus came so that we could see what real life is! When you know Jesus and know His live for you, that live will overflow out of your heart into the hearts and lives of those around you! Jesus is the perfect example that we should want to follow every day! He gave everything He had for everyone else! Even the ones who hated Him! That is radical love! When we find that life that can only be found in Christ alone, His Holy Spirit lives in our hearts! It makes us actually want to be last! To take the worst and let others have the best! This is the life we are called to live! Are we living it?
