  1. Sometimes I think we look down on the Pharisees. They always showed everyone the good deeds they were doing, and they thought they were the best, greater than everyone else and more important. They looked perfect on the outside, which was exactly what they wanted people to know. But the inside was a little different. They blinded themselves with the outside, the surface, and fooled themselves that the inside was like that too. Many times when we read or hear about the Pharisees, we think of how badly they missed the point. But take a minute to look into your own heart... Do you see anything similar? We have all missed the mark. We have all messed up. We have all fallen short. So many times, without even realizing it, we are exactly like the Pharisees. We do good things when other people are around. But when they aren't, we are a whole different person! And the inside comes out. We are all hypocrites. We are all sinners. We are all hopeless - without Jesus at least. But that's why Jesus came! He came to give redemption and to forgive us so that we can be holy and blameless before God! He gave His life for us hypocrites because even in our sin, He loved us! And our sin does not ever go farther than His grace can reach!
