July 10, 2018 LUKE CHAPTER 10
When the disciples return from their mission trip they were excited about what they were able to do. Jesus warns them to not foucs on what they can do but who they are becuase of what God has done. Our identity must not rest in our performance. If it does we will never be stable in our walk with Christ. If we stay amazed at the grace of God that has forgiven us and invtied us on mission then we will have joy and stregnth to walk with King Jesus. Are focussing on what you can do "for" God or are you enjoying life "with" God?
The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Why are the workers few? God has sent us! If you look around you, what do you see? Brokenness... Pain... Hurt... Lost sheep who don't know their Shepherd... And darkness. There is darkness everywhere in this world. It starts as a little seed that the enemy plants in our hearts. Then as every seed does, it grows. It grows so big that there is no room left in our hearts for anything else - including God. This is not what we were made for. The darkness of this world is strong. It has power because of the one controlling it. We can't ignore the fact that our enemy does have power. By knowing that, we should be guarding our hearts from him. But there is another seed. This seed can be planted even deeper in our hearts if we let it be! This seed, planted by God, is light! Light can conquer darkness! And here's another thing about light: it multiplies! When one person has the light and knows the light and shows the light, others will see that light and they will want to have that light and know the light and show the light too! And so many lives can be changed, so many hearts moved, all of we just let the power of our amazing God work through us! The light can be shown to the hurting, the lost, the broken, the forgotten, the rejected, the searching! We carry this light! We are messengers of this light! It is such a privilege that we've been given, a privilege we can't even begin to deserve! But... There's a problem. The enemy knows the power of God is stronger than his own. So he tries to plant the seed of darkness in the hearts that God has already planted light in. And the sad thing about this is that so many Christians fall into the trap. And then the light starts to fade... And if you take the light out of the darkness, what do you have left? Darkness. So we need to let the Light shine through us! We are not the Light, but we are witnesses of it!
