June 30, 2018 MARK CHAPTER 14

Peter was overconfident in his commitment to Christ. It is comforting to knnow that Jesus knows about this failure beforehand.  He loves Peter anyway.  Jesus will use Peter's failure to help refine and purify Peter to be more dependent on the Spirit.  Peter needed to know how much he needed Jesus, and so do we!  Sometimes we fail in the areas we are most confident, but when we fall we fall on grace.  Are you letting your failures humble you and draw you closer to Jesus?

  1. When Jesus tells us that He knows what we're going through, He does know. In verse 34, He says, "My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death." He is completely God, but He became completely man so that trough Him we could be redeemed. He was a human. He went through life like we do. So He understands everything in our lives! Our struggles, our trials, our pain, our brokenness, He knows! He was about to DIE ON A CROSS FOR US! Yet He says to the Father, "Your will be done." That is AMAZING love! He would give everything for us!
