June 3, 2018 MATTHEW CHAPTER 16
"If anyone"... absolute surrender isn't optional it is the definition of discipleship. True life is found when we let go of all to follow Jesus. We can't be or multiply multiplying disciples without this.
But this comes with a promise...true life is found when we give all of ours to King Jesus!
I'm writing this on a plane. Having just spent an amazing ten days in Albania, I am all the more convinced that you can't outgive God.
How have you found this to be true in your life lately?
Do you hear that voice inside of you telling you the truth? Telling you which way to go? That's the Holy Spirit. Telling you where to find real life. Many people don't follow Jesus because they don't believe that it's worth it. After all, He does ask for everything. In this world, surrender is not considered freedom. It's admitting that you lost. But surrendering to Jesus is confessing that you have nothing on your own and giving Him everything in your life to shape how He wants it. It's hard to surrender. But the surrender that gives freedom is letting go of control, realizing that you never had it anyway. Surrender to Jesus is freedom! And only in Jesus can we find true life!
