June 28, 2018 MARK CHAPTER 12
God measures what we give by what we have left. He is not comparing our generosity with others. He is looking deep within and knows what we are holding back. He knows the motives behind the gift as well. He could see the "impressive" gifts of the wealthy came from pride and abundance. Their gifts didn't reflect true worship and dependence. The widow gave it all. She knew God was worth this radical expression of adoration and trust. She knew that God would take care of her even when she put everything in His hands. Lord, teach us to give with hearts of joy and humility!

"The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes." The builders are everyone, who search for life's purpose, who look for something to fill their hearts. When Jesus came, we all turned away. We shut our doors and turned our backs and rejected Him. We didn't think we needed Him. But what we didn't realize is that He is all that we need! He is the cornerstone! The foundation! And without the foundation, the house comes down. He came to fill our longing, but we pushed Him away. But He's still here! He still reaches out to us even when we rejected Him! He still loves us even though we hated Him! He is the One who brings back the lost sheep. He's the Shepherd. And He is the foundation
