June 22, 2018 MARK CHAPTER 6

There are only two places in the gospels where we are told that Jesus was amazed. Both of these have to do with faith. One time Jesus was amazed at the faith of a Gentile man and gave that man the miracle he was seeking. Here in this passage, we have the sad second occurence of Jesus' amazement. Here in his hometown, familiarity with Jesus had produced a weak apathetic faith.
Jesus was amazed at how at the level of their doubt and skepticism.  "He couldn't do any miracles there, except lay hands on a few people and heal them."
A boxed in God delivers boxed in blessings. We must believe in God's goodness and greatness to fully see His glory. When we doubt we go without the fullness of what He has for us.  Is your doubt or apathy limiting what God wants to do in and through you?

  1. The disciples were out on the lake. Jesus walked out to them on the water. But they thought He was a ghost, so they were afraid. But this is what Jesus says to them, "Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid." Of course He tells them not to be afraid, but what I love is that He also reassures them that it's Him. This is awesome because if they didn't know it was Him, they would still be afraid! He is where our courage is found!
