June 16, 2018 MATTHEW CHAPTER 28
Matthew's gospel ends with, "The Great Commission". This commission is called, "Great" because it contains 4 "Alls": Jesus has ALL authority, He sends us to make disciples of ALL nations, He wants us to teach others to obey ALL His commands, and He promises to be with us at ALL times. If we understand theses, ALLs we won't be able to sit idle when the King has given us marching orders! At Crosswalk, we end each service by quoting these verses. We want to we reminded that worship isn't about an hour long service. After we quote these verses we remind each other, "You are loved and you have been sent!"
King Jesus has commissioned you...are you obeying the call?
Are you praying this everyday?
In verse 19, Jesus gives us a command. Something that He wants to be out way of life, the way we live every day. "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." This is not a suggestion... When we know and love Jesus, this should be the way that we want to live! It should come as a joy! To serve the One who set us free brings so much joy to our hearts when we obey and recognize the call that we've been given! This world will always be trying to tell you what you need. But here's the thing... The only thing we truly need is Jesus! We don't need to be a millionaire, have a great job, be famous and liked by everyone! If we have Jesus, we have EVERYTHING that we need! But if we don't, we have nothing. It hurts my heart that so many people in this world don't know the love of Jesus. They search for that love in other things, things in this world. In money, in fame, in other people... But they won't find it. Not until they open their hearts to Jesus. He is the only One who can fill our hearts! And this is why He has sent us out into the world to make disciplers! Because there are broken, hurting, lost people all around us! He has called us to open our eyes to the brokenness and to deliver His love and light into the darkness of this world!
