This chapter is all about being ready for the King's return.
In the first parable, the Spirit is the oil in the lamp that keeps us shining as we listen to Jesus' voice. He is the wisdom and guidance in the second parable that leads us to invest our lives in the Kingdom. And He is the one who will show us Jesus in each and every person we are called to love sacrificially. If we live in step with the indwelling Holy Spirit, we will live a life that shows we are God's children.
We never earn His love by what we do, but what we do should be the overflow of who we are.
Are you ready for King Jesus' return? How are you investing your time, money, talents into helping others find and follow Jesus? Who are you sacrificially serving out of love and worship for Him?
It it hurts Jesus' heart when we ignore our brothers and sisters who are hurting. All over the world, there are people who don't have clean water to drink, who don't have anything, who don't have hope. This hurts my heart. To know that there are broken people just like me who don't have anyone in their life who can show them the light. When we know and love Jesus, He draws our hearts to God's will. He has drawn my heart to those people, who don't have Him. They need Him! Jesus has trusted us to shine the light, His light. But are we doing that?
ReplyDeleteHannah, your heart for the broken is such an encouragement to me. Follow Jesus leading to live on behalf of these. You will find Jesus already there inviting you on mission to serve the hurting and seek the lost in His name. Cheering you on!
