June 1, 2018 MATTHEW CHAPTER 14
Peter had the faith to get out of the boat, but quickly took his eyes of Him. The circumstances around him distracted his focus.
We will always sink when our eyes turn away from the King. Thankfully, the opposite is also true. We can stand in the midst of any storm when we trust the Author of all Creation.
What has been distracting you from Jesus lately?
I love how even though Peter doubted, Jesus reached out to him. Peter had faith at first, but then he looked down. He saw the wind and the waves and was afraid. He forgot that Jesus has complete control over the waves and wind. Then he started to sink. But I love how even though he looked away from Jesus and focused on the wind, Jesus reached down. Jesus saw that Peter needed help, and He gave it to him! Jesus loved Peter so much, love that conquers fear and doubt, love that never ends, love that is unconditional! Even when we look at how big the waves are, we forget that the King that we serve is greater. We forget that He is in control and He is worth everything that we could give! But He is, and He still reaches out
ReplyDeleteI also love how when Jesus fed all those people, He only had only five loaves of bread and two fish, and yet everyone was satisfied with leftovers! Jesus does this in our lives. We don't have much to give, but Jesus makes a miracle out of what we do give! He doesn't ask for more than we can give, but He asks for all we can give. When we surrender everything to Jesus, He works in our lives and in our hearts and minds and transforms us!
