May 29, 2018 MATTHEW CHAPTER 11

Rest! We all need it. When we are striving in our own strength, we will never be able to love God and love people. We must be yoked to Jesus. He is our identity, purpose, and source. Realizing this makes life a joy and service to Him and others a gift.
We need to learn from Jesus' connection to the Father. He was always in total dependence on His Father by the Spirit and the Word. Though He would get tired physically, He never lost the awareness of the Father's constant love in and through Him.

    I love verses 28-30, because Jesus tells us that in Him we can find rest. Rest from this world and everything in our lives. The rest that Jesus gives to those who seek Him doesn't mean sleeping. It means peace. Peace in knowing that through it all He is God and He is good and so we have absolutely nothing to worry about! He died so that we could have this rest! It's a promise, and it's real. He is the only place that we can actually have peace in our storms, and trust no matter how big the waves are. When we seek Him with all of our hearts, we will find Him! And finding Him is finding peace. Many things in this world will offer you rest and peace, they the peace of this world is falsely advertised. It's fake. Not real. And it won't last. It may seem like the best thing, but then you chose it and realize that it's not. You realize it was all a lie. But in Jesus, there is real peace and real rest
